will return to class tomorrow. in newtown, connecticut, i'm danielle leigh. >>> as just heard there will be two funerals today. jack pinto l be at 1:00. he was a junior wrestler and a fan of the new york giants. noah pozner, was the youngest victim, he was described as inquisitive. >>> we're learning more about what happened on friday and the desperate efforts to are try to stay as many children as possible. justice correspondent pete williams has those details. >> reporter: the hour fig consequences begin friday morning when adam lanza takes hundreds of rounds of ammunition from his gun enthusiast mother and uses one of them to kill her, nancy lanza, shooting her several times. before leaving, he damages his computer. investigators are trying to retrieve what was stored. before 9:30, he loads the guns and ammunition into his mother's car and drives to sandy hook elementary school. a place he knows from his childhood. >> he had a relationship to the school, had attended there, at least that's what i'm led to believe. but beyond that, we really don't know a whole lot. >> report

of funeral processions will roll through newtown, connecticut. among yesterday's good-byes, family and friends gathered in honor of 27-year-old victoria soto, the teacher killed while trying to shield her young first grade students from a barrage of bullets. paul simon was there to sing soto's favorite song "the sound of silence." meanwhile, the family of 6-year-old victim noah pozner said someone they didn't know was soliciting donations in noah's memory. the official-looking website has since been transferred to the family. >>> new details are emerging about the whereabouts of nancy lanza in the days leading up to the massacre. nbc news learned nancy was on vacation in new hampshire wednesday and thursday of last week, according to a family friend. the friend didn't know where she was staying and couldn't confirm whether she had left adam home alone. >>> now here's your "first look" at this morning's dish of scrambled politics. director steven spielberg attended a screening of his film "lincoln" for a bipartisan group of senators in hopes of bringing them together in talks on the

. in connecticut, we picked up about six inches of snow before it did change over to rain, which it's going to stay as all rain at this point, but we do still have winter storm warnings and advisories posted, now mostly across central and northern new england, where we are still looking at additional snowfall accumulations. and look at that all across northern vermont, areas that want it, especially in the ski resorts, should pick up more than two feet of snow. the purple area is where we should see a foot or more, and areas back across massachusetts only an additional inch or so, especially inland areas where it is still all snow right now. as for wind gusts, the jersey shore, bricktownship, new jersey, barnegat bay, new jersey, picked up wind gusts near hurricane force, 70 to 75-mile-per-hour wind gusts were reported through the night last night. we did also in dover, delaware, pick up a 64-mile-per-hour wind gust. so the winds along the coast have been brutal, but they are weakening right now. we do still have gusts near 50 miles per hour in boston, but all across the rest of the mid-atlantic re

're leaving in new jersey, out your door or new york city area, southern connecticut, some showers are about to move through. they're already coming in pretty good now, moving on interstate 78 and 80 across new jersey and into the greater new york city area. they'll be in and out quickly by 8:00 a.m. they should be overwith. it's little area of showers. you can see it right here. southern hudson valley to just north of philadelphia. that's about it. those will quickly blow through long island and also through connecticut as we go throughout the early morning. after that, the warm front goes through and will warm up in a hurry. a pool of cold air moved in overnight over new england. hartford at 32. it's 17 degrees warmer right now in new york. but that cold air that just temporarily settled in overnight will be pushed out in a hurry during the day to day. all the warm air to the south will win out. temperatures are going to rise rapidly. should head up to 58 today in hartford after starting out in 32. that is pretty incredible, almost a 30 degree temperature rise during the daylight hours. 73
